📖 User Manual
1. Fill in the Basics
You’ll be asked for:
- Country/Region → so the tool knows whether you’re in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, etc.
- Currency → auto-fills based on your country, but you can edit it.
- Take-home income (monthly) → what actually hits your account.
- Essentials → rent/mortgage, utilities, food, transport, insurance, minimum debt payments.
- Wants (non-essentials) → dining out, shopping, streaming, hobbies, etc.
- Debt minimum payments → the total minimum you pay across all debts each month.
2. (Optional) Add More Detail
For a sharper analysis, you can expand the Advanced section and enter:
- Housing cost (rent/mortgage only)
- Savings balance
- Household size (how many people your budget supports)
- Emergency fund target (months) (default is 3)
- Debt types (credit card, mortgage, student loan, etc.)
- Context (optional) — e.g., “Hours cut at work” or “Planning for a new baby.”
3. Click “Get My Reality Check”
Once you hit submit, the tool:
- Crunches your numbers
- Calculates savings rate, debt-to-income ratio, housing ratio, 50/30/20 split, emergency fund coverage
- Sends everything securely (and anonymously) to GPT-4o for analysis

4. Read Your Results
You’ll see:
- A traffic light verdict (Green / Yellow / Red) for your budget health
- A list of actionable steps to improve your finances (clear, simple, no jargon)
- Region-aware notes on typical ratios and nonprofit help available in your country
- A “Try this scenario” suggestion (like cutting $100 from wants or increasing savings by 5%)
